Amazing how the right favors the free market - except when it doesn't:/ Classical 'free market' capitalism died a century ago with the onset of monopolies, finance capital imperialism. Without capitalist state intervention, the system would have collapsed long ago from its internal contradictions. As the meltdown of finance is followed by slump in the 'real' economy, the inherent tendency to crisis in capitalism is again graphically apparent. If these companies cannot survive develop without public money, isn't it time to make the logical step and take these companies into pulic ownership? No, not the bureaucratic state run set up of the 50s/60s/70s west, nor the stalinist eastern model. Social ownership, under democratic workers' consumers' control - real socialism.
